"You Just Missed Them"

Photo series by Sarah Liss

"You Just Missed Them” is a photo series I have been working on over the course of two years. I decided to shoot in black in white film to add a sense of dramatization to the work and to imply something of the past. In this series I wanted to explore and document the way someone affects their environment and how this becomes the physical evidence for their existence regardless of one’s absence. As a photographer I "just missed" whoever provided me photographic content and as a viewer "you just missed me" in the act of taking this photograph. So now each photograph is documenting two things, who created the content and the act of capturing the shot.

Upcoming show: “Impressions of Life” at SK Art Gallery NY, June 20th, 2019.
